Urban Geography and Regional
Development

Concentrating in Urban Geography and Regional Development
Urban
geography is concerned with the study of urban systems, in both a regional
and global perspective. The historical geography of urban development,
the social processes and conditions that exist in the urban environment,
and the local, regional, and global impact of cities on economic and social
processes are issues that will be explored with a concentration in urban
geography. This concentration may be complemented by a supporting
area in departments such as Urban Studies and Planning, Sociology, African
American Studies or Criminal Justice. The courses listed below make
up the urban geography concentration. Note that Geography majors are limited
to one technical course for the Technical Gateway requirement; additional
technical courses cannot be applied as fulfilling upper level geography
