The Master of Professional Studies in Geospatial Information Sciences Program is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date training on geospatial technology, theory and applications. The courses cover spatial analysis, remote sensing, spatial statistics, modeling, programming and scripting, spatial databases, Internet GIS, and Mobile GIS. Both MPS degree and Graduate Certificate in GIS are offered.

In the program, all the classes are offered in real classrooms or GIS labs and at the same time broadcast online. For the online teaching, it is interactive and dynamic through webcam and headset very much like sitting in a real classroom. In addition, entire lectures (lecture slides, presentation, and Q&A interactions) are video-archived for reviewing.  All courses are scheduled in the evenings (5:30-8:00pm) to accommodate working professionals. For more details, please refer to Frequently Asked Questions or inquire through email: geog-gis@umd.edu.

Our program is one of the ESRI Development Centers (EDCs).
