Space and place
The core lies in “space” and “place”
- Not the same since:
- the latter relates to difference from one location to another,
- whereas the former is based on distance, whether Euclidean or defined on some other physical or social “metric”.
What would a purely Euclidean Geography mean?
- If we only had to consider space as Euclidean, then Geography would still be fundamental
- Largely on the basis of linear relationships with properties such as “momentum”, “effort” and “cost” or non-linear monotonic relationships with properties such as force and gravity.
