Analysis of the Accuracy and Precision of ICESat-II estimates of Canopy Height as a Function of Sensor Design Parameters

1.   Enhance the existing waveform model to incorporate the sensor parameters that the ICESat-II Science Definition Team has identified as requiring evaluation for their effect on the accuracy and precision of vegetation height estimates.

2.  Generate simulations for the projected range of those sensor parameters as well as for the range of conditions of forests that interact with them (e.g terrain slope)

3.  Identify those sensor parameters that will most strongly affect the ability to make vegetation height estimates from ICESat-II, as well as any threshold effects and opportunities for sensor modifications that improve performance for vegetation remote sensing without impacting the other ICESat-II mission goals
