Concise Atlas of the World

In the new National Geographic's Concise Atlas of the World, at the beginning of each continent's section, a full-color two-page rendition of land cover is presented. This is the second time these maps have been printed in a National Geographic Atlas, but the first time they have been reproduced at close to full resolution. The source of the work is: Hansen, M.C., DeFries, R.S., Townshend, J.R.G., and Sohlberg, R. 2000. Global land cover classification at 1 km spatial resolution using a classification tree approach, International Journal of Remote Sensing, 21:1331-1364. A copy of the Atlas has been placed in the general office underneath the IKONOS images of the campus.
