Highlights from the 2008 Annual Association of American Geographers Conference
|
This year’s annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers was held at the Marriott Copley Place in Boston, Massachusetts. Numerous graduate students and faculty from the Department attended and presented at the large conference with a record-breaking turn-out of over 7,000 total attendees. The Department of Geography at the University of Maryland made their presence known with 22 presenters, a Departmental booth at the main exhibit hall promoting research and academic programs, a job booth seeking highly-qualified applicants for the expansion of the MPS-GIS program and the Human Geography field, and a Departmental reception. Over fifty alumni, prospective students, faculty and graduate students attended the catered reception and enjoyed an evening of “catching-up” with colleagues and learning more about new developments in the Department
