Fall 2005 Commencement Features 8 PhDs

For what had to be a first, the Department hooded 7 PhDs at the Fall 2005 BSOS commencement on Dec. 22. Five doctoral students completed their degrees in the Summer and three finished in the Fall. Hooded by advisor Martha Geores were Claire Jantz, Francis Lindsay, and James Wilson. Hooded by advisor Ralph Dubayah were Petery Hyde and Birgit Peterson. Hooded by advisor Eric Kasischke were Megan Weiner Lang and Edward Hyer. Candidate Konrad Wessels, advised by Stephen Prince, was unable to attend. In addition to the doctoral students, 4 MAs completed their degrees and over 20 received the bachelors, although not all were able to attend. After the ceremony, a reception was held in LeFrak Hall for all graduates, with Chair John Townshend giving special recognition to the accomplishments of the graduating doctoral students.
