NASA Earth Science Fellowships Recently
Awarded to the Department


The Department of Geography has received word that three more of its graduate students have been awarded 3-year NASA fellowships. Congratulations go to:
  • Jessica McCarty, (Advisor, Chris Justice):
    Seasonal and Interannual Variability of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Crop Residue Burning in the Contiguous U.S.
  • Douglas Morton, (Advisor, Ruth DeFries):
    Savannazation of a Tropical Forest Frontier: Carbon Consequences of Climate and Anthropogenic Fire from a Height-Structured Ecosystem Model
  • Wilfrid Schroeder, (Advisor, Chris Justice):
    Towards an Integrated System of Systems for Vegetation Fire Monitoring
These students are included in 65 NASA selected graduate students nationwide. The current awardees are preceded by 8 Department of Geography graduate students to receive NASA Fellowships. See:
