Dr. Prince contributes to state climate change report

This past summer Dr. Stephen Prince was invited to participate in a technical and scientific workgroup under the direction of the Maryland Commission on Climate Change.  The commission was organized by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and brought together scientists, public officials, and activists throughout the state to contribute to a comprehensive “Action Plan” report that assesses the future impacts of climate change on the state of Maryland using current research and climate models.  Specifically, Dr. Prince contributed to Section 6 of the “Global Warming and the Free State Report,” which deals with the complex impacts of climate change on the state’s land use practices, forest composition, plant and animal biodiversity, and other ecosystem services. Dr. Prince worked alongside Frank Cole (UMD's Agriculture Department) and Brian Fath (Towson University) on this project.

Maryland’s “Climate Change Action Plan” was released on August 27, 2008, and can be viewed at http://www.mde.state.md.us/Air/climatechange/index.asp
