Q: Do I Need to Make Backups of My Data?
A: All Geography Department users are given 200 megabytes of data storage in their homes directories. Homespaces that are located on the GLUE server are backed up nightly by GLUE - to obtain file retrieval , GLUE must be contacted at request@glue.umd.edu.
Class workspaces are backed up by the Geography department.
If you are storing data elsewhere, such as on a disk maintained by a research group, data backups may not be automatic. Contact the research group PI or the technical liason for information about backups.
It is the user's responisbility to backup data in class workspaces before the end of each semester. At the end of each semester this data is removed to create space for the following semester. If you want to have access to this data post-semester, make a backup yourself.
