Q: Are There Other GIS Facilities on Campus?
A: An update on the GIS facilities at McKeldin Library ...
A second PC running Windows 98 has been installed. Each PC is running the latest version of ArcView with all of the extensions available through Site Licensing. In addition, we have a trial version of Intergraph's latest GIS program - GeoMedia 3.0. This evaluation copy is good until August 8 if you would like to try it out. The library has also placed an order for Microsoft's suite of mapping products including MapPoint 2000, Virtual Globe and Expedia Streets. These products should be arriving shortly. Faculty and students are welcome to create maps and print them out on the colour printer.
The PCs are located in the Map Room at McKeldin Library (in the basement). To my knowledge, these are the only publicly accessible PCs running GIS software on campus. Summer hours are from 12 pm to 5 pm, Monday - Wednesday. Other times can be arranged by appointment.
