Landscape Metrics Used to Assess Anthropogenic Influence on Wetlands in the Anacostia Watershed-Northwest Branch

The Northwest Branch Watershed is located in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties, Maryland as well as the District of Columbia. The coastal plain and piedmont physiographic provinces are both found within its boundaries.

The landscape is dominated by urban and residential land cover with natural areas found only in stream riparian areas and, to a degree, in the Watershed's headwater area.

The Watershed's wetlands are highly fragmented and a great deal of wetland area has most likely been lost to urbanization.
