Adjunct Faculty: Scott Goetz

Scott Goetz joined the Woods Hole Research Center as an Associate Scientist in 2003, and maintains an adjunct associate professor appointment at the University of Maryland, where he was a research scientist for 6 years. He was also a research scientist at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center from 1985 to 1995, working through various contract organizations. He completed his Masters degree at the University of California and a PhD at the University of Maryland. He works on the application of satellite imagery to analyses of environmental change, including monitoring and modeling links between land use change of various types (e.g., urbanization, fire disturbance), forest productivity, water quality, and epidemiology. He has authored, to date, over 50 refereed journal publications and book chapters, and recently edited a special issue on advances in biophysical remote sensing.  He serves on the editorial board of Remote Sensing of Environment.
