This unsolicited proposal to NASA aims to make available to the public a set of existing MODIS Land (MODLAND) product software tools developed and maintained by the MODLAND quality assessment group. The tools will be distributed via the Internet from the EROS Data Center (EDC) DAAC where the majority of the Land products are archived and distributed. The tools will be provided as command line executables running on a variety of operating systems (Linux and IRIX Unix versions already exist) and distributed with full documentation and installation instructions. The tools will be made available in a series of phased deliveries, with the tools most needed available in the first year. This is an 18 month proposal, with the possibility of an extension for another 6 months. Longer term tool maintenance will be provided as part of the EDC DAAC's institutional sustaining engineering support.
These tools are now available at the LDOPE tools distribution site http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/tools/ldope/index.html
